GERWC Meeting – May 14, 2008 – 6:00 pm

Downtown Evansville Library – 12 present

 * No guests

* Minutes of the April 2008 meeting were approved as presented

* Financial report for April 208 was approved as presented

Correspondence

* Discussed “Go Team Magazine” for possible advertising

 President Rants/Raves

* Club is going well. Everyone needs to go through the president for web site postings.

* Meeting with Goodwill for the Thanksgiving 5k timing. They are undecided at this time.

* Will request funds from Toyota for Chip Timing purchase

* Discussed what the GERWC finish line of then future may look like and a mock up drawing was passed around the room.

* Working on getting sponsors for the Otter 5k race

Race Timing

* Good results with no complaints

* Energy 5k upcoming

Race Management

* Bob Head offered to store Chip Timing equipment when purchased

* Morganfield 5k needs volunteers

Web Page

* Those wanting to post need to get ok from the club president first

* Now is the suggested time for any major web site design changes

Banquet – no report

Membership

* 180 members as of today

Newsletter

* Good contributors in the last issue

* Deadline for the next issue is June 20, 2008

Picnic

* Bob Head volunteered to do the cooking

* No firm date has been set/tabled until June

Step Up Club – no report

Scholarship

* Applications are ready to review. Several volunteered to review them.

* They will be awarded before the June meeting. Bill Hussman will make arrangements for the winners and parents to attend.

Summer Track Program

* Event ready to go. Volunteers are needed for each session

Special Events

* Pub runs discussed. Suggested they be at different locations. Chris Thomas feels having the same location is good for now and the riverfront offers a variety of run options.

Grand Prix

* Three events so far

* Awarding volunteer points credit will be revised 

Old Business

* Otter 5k – Volunteer assignments: Bob Head and Bill Hussmann on the starting line. Don Nichols and Becky Kiesel on same day registration. Swift Athletics has offered to do pre-registration. Permits will be needed for the course and use of the Garvin Park pool shower rooms. We will supply the water to assure there will be plenty.

* Chip Timing Purchase – Grant submitted to Toyota

* Received $50.00 for advisory role at Vic-tory Church 5k

New Business

* Ray Pritchett – Walked the Indy Mini Marathon. Spoke with a former member who told him there is nothing for walkers in the club. It was suggested and discussed we have a WALK ONLY event this summer. More to come on this event.

* Bullhorn – Discussion about how the club bullhorn may have disappeared and who used it last. A new bullhorn has been purchased and Bob Lauderdale displayed it for the board.

* Discussed having club t-shirts made and sold as well as a separate t-shirt with the theme “River Racer” on them. Approved pending the club treasurer not having any issues with amount of sale price.

* Web Page – Discussed size of ads on the web page. Agreed to reduce the size of current ads and add all sponsors logos. Also agreed to move club mission statement to the top of home page and revise the remainder of the language.
