Presentation of 2008 GERWC
Scholarships
· Wes Camp – North High School
in Evansville.
His parents were present and they described to the club his many
accomplishments among which is, National Honor Society, Student Council,
Kiwanis Award and N-Men Award. His GPA was 3.7

Racers
Race Timing
- Events
timed this year and comparison to previous years reviewed as well as what
remains for 2008.
Race Management
- Not
much scheduled for the summer months. Reviewed what is up for the fall.
- Thanksgiving
Day race- No reply from race director if they want us to time. Discussed
if want to time the event in case we are hired. The decision is, yes, we
will do the timing. However, per club president we will have new finish
line director and new plan in place for success. Most of the board feels
changes can be made in the finish line to do it correctly. Volunteers will
be secured prior to the event.

Picnic
- It is
agreed the date will be August 23 at 2:00
pm in Haubstadt. Details to come.
Step Up Club
- School
is out so there is little activity however there s one active club with 20
kids. Directors are busy distributing awards.
Scholarship
- 2008
award winner, Pam Weinzapfel will attend the July meeting.
Summer Track Program
- Begins
June 12 at 6:00 pm.
Report ESPN will be there filming a story.
Special Events
- Evansville
Courier Company, host of the Livin’ It Up race, wants to do an article on
GERWC.
- Rep
from local Starbucks store here to ask about developing a 5k race.
Grand Prix
- 72
members have participated this year to date. Discussed details and agreed
this is a successful and growing event
Old Business
Otter 5k – Update on the course to be used, entry
form and volunteers. Otter management will give each participant a free game
ticket and $5.00 in Otter Bucks.
Chip Time purchase – Request for funds made to Toyota and waiting for
their response.
New Business
Go Team Magazine ad space – Report is their cost is
much too high for our needs. No action.
Web Site business – Approved to renew our domain name
Laptop computer – Not in good shape and needs repairs
approved to have it diagnosed. Used laptops are available that may serve our
needs. Approved to explore this possibility.
Walk only race – Discussed having a full scale walk
only event possibly at the State
Hospital grounds in
September.
Club Store – Chips T Shirts has offered to facilitate
the manufacture and oversee purchasing of GERWC apparel at their location. The
club Treasurer sees no tax issues so a motion was made and carried to approve.
Loaning equipment to time USI event – There is a club
Equipment Loan Policy however, after a discussion, it was unanimously agreed to
allow club members to help USI time their Grass Roots event. It was further
agreed to allow other schools or other groups to do the same would be handled
on a case by case basis.
Ray Rayl Scholarship
Funds - $774.00 has been transferred into a CD until the scholarship is
awarded.
Being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm
