Minutes of the October 2006 meeting were read and approved
Financial report for October 2006 was read and approved

Discussion concerning the method for awarding the Ray Rayl Scholarship. Afterward there was a motion by Bob Lauderdale to award two scholarships, one each to a boy and a girl. It is established by consensus of those present that the GERWC Board will determine how much the awards will be worth and how many awards will be given in each boy and girl category if the monies are available. After which the scholarship committee will review the applications and determine the winners to be awarded at the annual banquet.

Race Timing
1. Next race is November 23, 2006. Volunteer assignments were discussed.

Web Page
1. The new newsletter is now up.

Banquet
1. The banquet is February 3, 2007. We still need a director for this event.

Events-No report

Race Management
1. Jingle Bell 5k December 4, 2006. Gordon will handle road control and Bob Head the finish line. The YMCA had made flags and cones available if needed.

Membership
1. It was suggested that we have an “open house” type event with refreshments as a way to solicit new members. A location like Bob’s Gym was suggested. The Board approved Becky Kiesel to pursue this project.
2. It was suggested that the club offer self defense classes being so many runners and walkers use public roadways and parks and run at night.
3. The idea of giving incentives to club volunteers was discussed

Newsletter
1. The latest issue is now on the web site
2. January 1, 2007 is the next issue and articles should be submitted by December 20, 2006.

The club social run at the Knob Hill Tavern in Newburgh went well.

New Years Eve Race
1. The flyer will be out soon and the committee for the event has been meeting. It was approved by the Board for Downtown Evansville to print the flyer and they or the club will bulk mail them.

Walking report from Ray Pritchett. He stated that Walk magazine is available to club members at a discounted rate.
