GERWC MEETING – APRIL 12, 2006 – 6:00 PM

Weinbach’s Cafeteria – 15 present

-Minutes of the March 2006 meeting were read and approved with one correction. Under Events Calendar, the race listed to be in Washington should read Oakland City.
-Financial report for March 2006 was read and approved.

Anne Audain of Healthier Evansville addressed the board. Asking the GERWC to assist with registration at the Expo Sunday April 30 and race day May 7 as well as commit volunteers for the race course.

Bob Lauderdale stated there is a new track club in Evansville, “Evansville Speedsters”. He also showed the board brochures of other clubs still using printed newsletters.

Scholarship
- All applications for the two scholarships are in with 13 girls and 14 boys having applied. The plan is to evaluate them and select two winners then invite them to the June 2006 meeting to present the scholarships. 

Race Calendar
- Five races have been added since March. 
-  Becky Kiesel has offered to direct the Otter Stadium 5k race this year.

Web Page
- At issue before the board is whether to put race flyers on the web site for races we do not time but list on our site. After much discussion a motion was made and carried as follows: The club will put on our web site a brochure and entry form for races we time or as directed by a club member. For any other race we list we will add a link to their web site.

Walkers Report
- Bob Head and Cedric Hustace are working on bringing the Southern Indiana Walkers Club into the GERWC.

Membership
- After discussion a motion was made and carried to replace Angela Reckelhoff as membership director. Gordon asks for a replacement and Nick Tenbarge volunteered. The board votes to accept Nick as the new director. 
- The club took in six new members since the March meeting.

Newsletter
- Items to go into the next newsletter must be sent to Jerry Seddon by April 20. 2006.

Picnic
- The date is August 6th, 2006. Gordon is looking for someone to be director of the event. Bob Head has agreed to do the cooking and direct the horseshoe tournament.

Step Up Club
- For ages 5-13. One new club has joined and another is considering it. 
- Toyota will donate $3000.00 to the Step Up Club.
Summer Track Program
- Gordon is to handle all public relations and the event is ready to go.

Special Events
- Barb Cox and Gordon are working on club promotion and interesting things to do this year. Discussed monthly runs to include social time afterwards and also offer incentives for members to bring in new members. It has been suggested we need to service our current members and their interests as well as trying to bring in new members.

Old Business
- Gordon will be looking for volunteers for all Healthier Evansville events.
- Otter Stadium 5k race will be August 12
- The May 10 meeting will be at Weinbach’s Cafeteria at 6:00 pm. If you plan to eat please do so before 6:00 pm.
- Gordon pointed out he will have a story in the June issue of Runner’s World authored by Bob Cooper.

Being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm
