BOARD MEETING MINUTES OF
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2005
MEMBERS PRESENT: Richard Tenbarge, Cedric Hustace, Tom
Anderson, Carol Anderson, Jerry Seddon, Bob Lauderdale, Paul DeVillez,
Bill Hussman, Jim Effinger, Don Nichols, Nick Tenbarge, and Ray Pritchett.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Cedric Hustace gave the Treasurer’s
Report.
RACE TIMING: Nick Tenbarge was present. Upcoming
races will include the Mt. Vernon 5K on June 25, Jasper Strassenfest 5K
on August 6, Pike County 5K on August 13.
WEBPAGE: Richard asked for comments on the WebPages,
Everyone is happy with it and thinks that Chad is doing an excellent job.
RACE CALENDAR: Jerry Seddon gave the report. Jerry
Walker and Chad Hartmann have gotten together and worked out the race calendars
for both the newsletter and the WebPages.
WALKER’s REPORT: Cedric Hustace gave the Walker’s Report.
He advised that Bob Christmas and himself, Cedric, have received USATF
national indoor ranking. Bob is first in the 3000 meter men’s age group75-79
and Cedric is 3rd in the men’s 3000 meter age group 70-74.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Discussion was held on continuing to
offering memberships annually or to drop memberships and solicit donations.
No final decision has been made.
NEWSLETTER: Jerry Seddon gave the report. The deadline
for articles for the next edition will be June 23rd. We will have another
meeting before then. Further discussion was made concerning an electronic
newsletter. A committee consisting of Cedric Hustace, Jerry Seddon, Nick
Tenbarge, Chad Hartman, and Jim Effinger will meet to discuss replacing
the present newsletter with other options.
PICNIC: Don advised that the picnic is on go. Go
to the WebPages for more information.
STEP UP PROGRAM: Report by Tom Anderson. Schools out but
some clubs are continuing. Tom and Carol will redo the leader’s guide.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Joe Whelan reports that the selection
process is almost complete and that the scholarships will be awarded at
the July 13th meeting.
OTTER’S STADIUM RUN: The run is set for July 23, 2005
at 5:00pm. Brochures are printed and are being distributed.
Cedric Hustace will take care of trophies and T-shirts. Entries will
be sent to Don Nichols and Richard has applied for the proper permits from
the city and park’s department. The finish line crew will help with the
start and finish. Richard and Bob Tenbarge will help with Traffic.
Randy Schmitt will take care of the Water Stop. Don will meet with Gordon
to determine a starter.
Y(not)2K-4K: The 2K -4K on New Years Eve was discussed.
Don Nichols has secured the Coliseum for the event. Cedric
has reviewed the contract and made suggestions. Work is ongoing.
Richard Tenbarge, President and Race Director, has advised
that he will resign both positions because of medical problems. He
agreed to serve until July 1, 2005. An executive committee has been
formed to run the club. The executive committee members are Bill
Hussman, Don Nichols and Ray Pritchet. Members can email these members
direct or can continue to email Richard Tenbarge for the foreseeable future
and he will forward their concerns to the committee.
