Scholarship Awards of $500.00 each
were presented to Shannon Kerns from Reitz High School and Mark Turpin
from Harrison high School. We received thirty two applications.
Treasurer’s Report: A motion
was made and carried to approve the financial report.
Race Timing: Nick Tenbarge-
we are to time the Jasper race August 6 and Petersburg. The card system
was used at the Mt. Vernon race.
Web Page: Lists were updated and
the membership forms corrected
Race Calendar: Jerry Walker-
16 events are listed with 2 new added.
Walkers Report: Bob Head- there
was a walker’s clinic at the Laufenfest 5K. Tuesday workouts at Wesselman
Park average 10-15 people per week and the club has a road trip planned
to Indianapolis for the Dick Lugar 5k September 27.
Membership: Angela Reckelhoff-
1 renewal and 1 new family membership.
Newsletter: Jerry Seddon- deadline
for articles in next newsletter is August 31.
Picnic: Don Nichols- ready
to go for August 14. Bob Head will conduct a horseshoe tournament.
Step-Up Club: Carol Anderson-
the Haubstadt Chamber of Commerce donated $100.00. 200 Step-up letters
were sent out to area schools.
OLD BUSINESS
Otter Stadium 5k: 50 trophies and
145 t-shirts have been ordered. Event is ready to go. Cedric Hustace will
be allowed to set up his original art and will donate 5% of each print
he sells. The Otters are donating water and tables for our use.
Race Rayl 5k: Bob Lauderdale- ready
to go.
Officer Vacancies: We still do not
have a President, Vice president, and Recording Secretary.
Summer track Program: Gordon Benfield-
there are 2 meets left. A motion was made and carried to approve spending
for relay batons.
NEW BUSINESS
YMCA Mini-Marathon: Angela will over
see a GERWC table at the expo if we are permitted to have one and discussed
hand out materials and approved.
Newsletter Issue: Members debated
the pros and cons of continuing a printed newsletter versus going to all
electronic. There was a consensus to table a decision until next meeting.
Resignation: Joe Whelan, Chairman
of the scholarship committee, resigned fro the Board after serving 12 years.
Being no further business the meeting
was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
