MEMBERS PRESENT:  Richard Tenbarge, Cedric Hustace, Tom Anderson, Carol Anderson, Jerry Seddon, Jerry Walker, Bob Christmas, Bob Head, Don Nichols, Joseph Whelan, Jim Effinger and Ray Pritchett

GUESTS: Janice Johnson of the Arthritis Foundation attended the Board Meeting. She advised that her organization wants to do the Jingle Bell 5K again this year on December 3, 2005.  The run/walk will use the same time, route and facilities. This will be the 19th Annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk.  The club agreed to time the event.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Cedric Hustace gave the Treasurer’s Report. He reported the 5/3rd Bank and Casino Aztar both agreed to be sponsors of the Otter’s Stadium Run with gifts of $250.00 each.

RACE TIMING: Nick Tenbarge was not present.  Richard Tenbarge advised that upcoming races to be timed include Toyota on April 23, Energy Classic at Rockport on May 14th, Run for the Roses at Morganfield on May 21 and the Mt. Vernon 5K on June 25th.

WEBPAGE:  Richard asked for comments on the WebPages, Everyone is happy with it and thinks that Chad is doing an excellent job.

RACE CALENDAR: Jerry Walker gave the report. He advises that we have eighteen events on the newsletter race calendar including some recurring events.  He is trying to keep the calendar current and include as many area events as possible.

WALKER’s REPORT: Bob Head gave the Walkers report.  He advised that the walkers are meeting at Wesselman’s Park at 5:00pm on Tuesdays for workouts and meetings.

NEWSLETTER: Jerry Seddon gave the report.  The deadline for articles for the next edition will be Monday, April 18th.  Lisa Bell will allow the Club to use her articles about fitness and diet in the newsletter.

STEP UP PROGRAM:  Report by Tom and Carol Anderson. Carol reported that she is talking to Plaza School about a program.  USI PE Teachers are also interested and inquiries have come from as far away as West Virginia and Prince Edward Island.  She reports that they get a lot of hits on their website.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Joe Whelan reported on the Scholarship Program. He reports that they have nine applications with the application period ending in one week. At that time the committee will go through the applications and decide on who gets the scholarships.

OTTER’S STADIUM RUN: The run is set for July 23, 2005 at 5:00pm.  Brochures will be printed soon and distributed.  Cedric Hustace will work on publicity.  Entries will be sent to Don Nichols and Richard will work on getting the proper permits from the city and park’s department.  Gordon Benfield will be the starter and oversee the event.

Y(not)2K-5K:  The possibility of a 5K on New Years Eve was discussed.  Don Nichols will be the race director.  He will talk to various people about the event and see if it is feasible, if so committees will be set up for the various activities need to make it a success. 

OTHER BUSINESS: Tom Anderson talked about setting up a Runners/Walkers Club Photo site where members could download pictures for a small fee.  It was agreed that it would be a good idea.  Tom will look further in the idea.
