GERWC Minutes
Jan. 14, 2004
Attending: Richard, Linda, Angela, Ray, Mike, Carol
and Tom, Don, Bob Head, Bob C., and Jim
Treasurer Report: Submitted. All races for the
year have been paid. Shane has been paid too.
Race Timing: We are looking for a new race contact
person for the race directors to talk too. We are paid by how many finish
a race, but all who enter a race will be entered in the computer.
Web Site: Greg has changed Gordon's name as the
contact person. We are looking for someone interested in taking over the
web site. Contact Richard or a board member.
Banquet: 41 as of this meeting, but with this typing
we have over 100. At SWIRCA at 6pm. On Jan 31st.
Race Calendar: Janet will miss the next 3 meetings
due to prior event. All GERWC timed races will be in bold. And we will
list most races, but we are debating on charging a small fee to those Charity
races who want to be on the web site.
Walkers Report: The only thing is that some like
to start after the runners and some like to start with. This is up to the
race director. The reason the competitive walkers participants are down,
is because we are asked to either monitor or judge. So they will be offering
a clinic in the spring on the basics of monitoring and judging.
Membership: We had 4 renewals handed in at the
meeting. We are waiting for Ced to check the box. We will have an update
next meeting.
Newsletter: Articles by the 15th of Feb. This issue
will feature the banquet. We will have a piece on the Ynot2K.
Picnic: Question: Wesselman's Park or Burdette
Park? Do we want the shaded shelter? We can book half of it. Don will try
to get a date in Feb to book it. If you want to volunteer to help Don,
please contact a board member. We have thought about later in the day,
as August is so hot. Club will once again purchase meat and drinks.
Step-Up: Carol and Tom will have an 8k meeting
with Nina. Might have to change date, as Mike will be out of town. Good
dates are May 8, May 15th and April 17th. 50 so far (as of this meeting)
have signed up for the fundraiser on Jan 31st at the Pagoda. This is to
help with purchasing new log books and printing new leader books.
Scholarship: 5 applications so far. 4 women and
1 male. Senior GPA is 3.0 or higher and will need to write an essay.. This
is open to the public.
Special Events: Surveys will be in soon. Don is
compiling the information.
Ynot 2 K: There is no financial list make up yet, will
be available at the next meeting. Had 97 participants. Mostly families.
Would like to generate this more now to families with children.
Summer Track Program: Who is willing to run this,
this summer?
Other: Ray Rayl award was voted on, as well as
the volunteer of the year.
Next meeting we will need to have a board election. We
will be offering a student rate, to join for $10. College and high school
students invited to take advantage of this new rate!
We are in need of a new starter's pistol. They run around
$135. But can use the air horn in the mean time. We will vote on the pistol
next meeting.
Any other new business, please contact Richard Tenbarge.
Next meeting: Feb.11th at 6pm at YMCA
