Treasurer Report: No questions or concern.
Committee Reports:
Race Timing: Future races- Oct 18 Uof E XC. Jim
will make list of races to be timed.
Web page: Everything okay. No Jasper race results
yet. And no Otters results posted. Will submit these to Greg as soon as
they get them.
Banquet: dates available for the SWIRCA building
are: Jan. 17th, Jan. 24th, Jan 31st, and Feb. 21st, and the 28th. Tom is
checking into a speaker. Maybe get a possible sponsor.
Race calendar: 1 race to list is Bowling Green
5&10K on Sept 27th. We will time the Boo Run on Oct 25th and the race
director will need to get 3 of 9 bar code. Also the Ray Rayl 5K is Nov
1st. Shirts are ordered and will use old Ray Rayl trophies. Bob Lauderdale
will be on Channel 14 in Oct promoting this race.
Walkers Report: The USATF Indiana State 20k is
to be held on Nov 2nd at Wesselman's park. Start time is in question still.
Will need some volunteers
Membership: 133 paid members.
Newsletter: Their will be an article about the
summer track program. And the Picnic is August 17th! Will get some pictures
of the picnic to put in also. But please get all newsletter articles to
Jerry no later than Aug 22nd. Would like an article on the Otters race
as well. Will bold all timed GERWC races.
Special Events: the picnic organization is going
well. Don will pick up the key on Friday and return on the following Monday.
Craig will get the food at Sam's. 2 grills are ready and the games and
prizes are set. Craig and Don will wait till after the picnic to get a
report together on the surveys that were returned.
Step Up Club: Carol has sent mailings out to several
county schools. Several area middle schools are interested in starting
clubs.
Scholarship: Joe will send letters in Sept. to
about 30-35 High schools. This year the guidelines are the same, except
that it is open to the public now.
Summer track Program: 150 people have gone through
this program. Gordon has received the bill from Central for $91. It was
turned in to Cedric. The whole cost of this program was about $200. Evansville
Living Magazine will have a small article on this.
Old Business:
Otter race: Broke even for this race. They want
to do this again for next year. 89 people attended.
Jasper race: Timed with Mike (his first timed event)
did a good job, but will need a keyboard for future races. It was approved
that he purchase one. He will turn in the receipt to Ced. Kent had helped
on the timing too. 283 people turned out for this race.
New Business:
Pike Co. race: This Saturday on Aug 16th. We have
6 volunteers. Will use card system for this race.
Yoga for Runners: It is possible to have this program.
It can be free to members or a small price to non-members. We will have
to pay for an instructor. Bob Lauderdale will check on a room. Will need
to get time and dates available also. Will have more info at the next meeting.
Kent Scheller: As you know Kent has spent several
hours on helping with the timing, and will not take anything for it. The
board has voted approval for a gift certificate.
Other: The High school cross-country track season
is about to begin and we will need volunteers! Anyone who wants to volunteer
can call Bob Lauderdale or Ray Pritchett and Jim Effinger. The Bosse Field
run for the middle schools has not been decided on the date. The Washington,
Indiana race is up for discussion, if we want to continue timing this or
not.
The brochure is still in the works. It has not been put
on the wayside.
Bob Lauderdale will send Bernie flowers at Deaconess.
(If you may remember Bernie suffered a heart attack at the 5k Y series)
He is in a private room now. And he is on soft foods.
Dunham's will offer 10% off. Please tell the cashier.
A Big Thank you, to Janet for starting the minutes for
me as, I was late getting to the meeting.
Next meeting is on Sept 10th.
