Treasurer Report: Total of $11279.83 Daviess Co. paid $264.00
Race Calendar: No new races to report at this time. The Thanksgiving
race is on Nov. 22 at 8am. We will be timing this with USI. No SWIRCA.
Next timing race will be Nov 4th at St Meinard.
Banquet: Tim Seaman cannot make it on Feb 9th as previous said,
Ann is working on getting Jon Matthews or one of the Rohl's. Will report
at next meeting.
Walker's Report: The 15k have a new race director that is Mike
Hudson. The walking club had two that medaled in the National 5k. Bob Christmas
won his age group and Will Walden won in his age group and came in 9th
overall.
Membership: Rob will no longer handle this as of the first of
the year. Elizabeth will take this over.
Newsletter: Elizabeth is handing this over to Janet Beemer at
the first of the year. She will help her with the first newsletter.
Please have things in to Elizabeth by the first of November. Info was listed
in the newsletter about scholarship, but no one has called about this yet.
Step-Up: Toyota is the major sponsor for a spring race. With
all proceeds going to the step-up club.Needs help from the Club.This will
be on Toyota property. They will do road management. Also food and drink,
trophies too. Certified 5k course. There will be kids races. ¼ mile,
½ mile, 1 mile. It will probably be held on a Saturday. Maybe April
13th. Fee $ 12 advance, $15 late, kids free. Shirts will have Toyota
and Step-Up emblem.
Race Timing: Chad Hartmann will be taking this over for 1-year
trial basis. He will be paid .50 cents a head. His duties are: Calling
volunteers, mailing results, keeping files on previous races on what and
who the volunteers did on the last years race. Race director does road
management unless previously discussed and they will be charged $3.00 a
head. Chad needs a list of races and dates (of previous year) and usual
size of race, cities, which uses cards and which don't. Jim Effinger will
get him the information. Chad will get the prices together on equipment
that the club is recommend to purchase. Includes laptop, Run Score software
program, Bar code reader, data cords (such as telephone cable). We will
not purchase a chip machine in the near future as it cost $20,000. Chad's
other duties will be to contact the paper with results. And he will take
over the web page and post results on this. Cannot purchase an new
split 8 timer till November (not available). Ray P. will get Chad a catalog
on this. All this will be taking place between now and Jan 1st.
OLD Business
Race timing: Chad Hartmann is the new director. He teaches at
Helfrich Park Middle school. And teaches a class on web design at USI.
He is a hard worker and is looking forward to this job.
Social Chairman: Still looking. Eric Cox was suggested.
Boo Run: The race director would like to get the walk monitor. It will
depend if enough people are interested in doing this. Who is in charge
of the kid's race? Usually the race director. This is timed with
computer. Computer will also time the 1-mile kid's race.
Thanksgiving Race: This race is $3.00 a head as the club is
also doing road management. Tom Sills (race director) will have to contact
the police on this. Price will be split with USI.
Ynot2K: Cedric will be the race director with help from Elizabeth.
It will be at the Centre. And racers will need a First Night Button to
get in. This will be in the packet. So the Club will have to purchase buttons
and T-shirts. It will be held on the side of the building on Martin Luther
King Blvd. side. The club can bring in own refreshments. Table for Step-Up
will be providing by the Arts Council. Richard is working on getting the
parade permit. Volunteers needed to man the intersections.
Board Elections: Nominations will be held at the next meeting.
Along with the Ray Rayl award.
New Business: SWIRCA has contacted Bob Lauderdale on helping
with the Senior Games. He will work on the Track and Field only. Hopefully
this will be held on a Saturday.
No Hoosier State Games
Bob Lauderdale and Ray Pritchett will time Monte Cassino race.
Gordon will contact Mike at the Parks Dept. about the River Run. Possibility
that this race will have two long shoots instead of 4 short ones. Will
retrain on the finish line.
